  • Under the late Rev. R.E. Willis, the role of the youth expanded. Being chaplain of the Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield, he involved Calvary’s youth in the ministry and religious training there.
  • As a teacher at the Baptist Seminary, Rev. Jessie Redmond expanded Christian education at Mt. Calvary by improving bible study. Rev. Redmond also utilized other deans from the Baptist Seminary to teach classes.

Through the leadership, committed service, and hard work of former pastor, the late Rev. Alexander Kirkwood, Sr., another milestone was achieved. The Educational Building was dedicated in 1989. This building was erected by members and contracts. Rev. Kirkwood was the longest reigning pastor in Calvary’s history, serving a total of 32 years.

VISION STATEMENT

Our Vision Is To:

“Equip the Saints for the work of Ministry. ” (Eph 4: 12, RSV) Leadership by education and training. “Integration without preparation equals frustration. “

“Set at Liberty them that are Bound. ” (Isaiah 61 : 1 & Luke 4: 18) Liberation that secures jobs, housing, education, human rights and the breaking of all fetters.”

“Serve the present age, my calling to fulfill. ” Flexibility to adapt to locations; the external nature of decisions people must make.

“Reveal the glory of the Lord that all flesh shall see it together. ” (Isaiah 40:5) Challenging excellence at every level of participation.

BELIEFS

We believe that every individual is important to the kingdom of God. It does not matter what side of the track you come from, it’s not the color of your skin, learned or unlearned, rich or poor. We believe Jesus died for all; therefore, you are important to God and His family.
